How is bee pollen produced?
Bees collect pollen by flying from one plant to another to collect nectar. As the bee's body is very hairy, small particles stick to them, forming small balls on the bee's legs. Some of the pollen is left on the plants to pollinate them and improve their yields, and some of it is taken back to the hive where the bees use it for food. The pollen in the hive is used to make bee bread. They are compressed in honeycomb eyes and infused with honey. Beekeepers use a special grate at the hive entrance to collect pollen. As the bee passes through it, she "brushes" some of the pollen balls into a special collecting container, which the beekeeper can then simply scoop into a clean container, dry and pack.

Consumption of bee pollen
