1. Bee glue infusion recipe

This bee glue infusion recipe will help you make yourself some bee glue alcohol solution.

How do you dilute bee glue with ethyl alcohol? First, you need to know what concentration you want. The most frequently used are 5% and 10% propolis solutions. So, if you want to make a 10% solution, you’re going to need 900 g of ethyl alcohol for 100 g of propolis. For a 5% solution, you’ll need 1,900 g of ethyl alcohol for the same amount of propolis.

Procedure:

  • Pour the propolis and ethyl alcohol into a glass container and mix well. The exact proportions are detailed above. 70% ethyl alcohol will work best. A stronger alcohol can be diluted with water.
  • Seal the container and place it in a warm dark place, making sure to stir it at least several times a day. Keep this mixture like this for at least a week.
  • After two weeks, the solution needs to be strained. It can then be decanted into bottles and used. Because this is an alcoholic solution, it has an unlimited shelf life.

2. How to prepare water-based bee glue extract

According to scientists, water-based bee glue extract has even more potent antibacterial and fungicidal properties than ethanol-based extract.

So, how do you prepare water-based bee glue extract?

  • Finely chop the bee glue and mix with water at a ratio of 1:9. You can boil the mixture a little or keep the mixture in an air-tight container for several days.
  • Then strain the mixture and keep in a dark place.

3. How to prepare oil-based bee glue extract

Oil-based bee glue solution is less irritating to mucous membranes, making it better suited to treating nasal ailments or wounds.

Procedure:

  • Heat the bee glue with a natural oil of your choice (coconut, rapeseed, sunflower, almond, etc.) in a water bath, stirring slowly. Opt for a propolis-oil ratio of 1:20 or 1:10.
  • Heat the mixture to a temperature of 50 0C or until the propolis dissolves completely.
  • Strain out the sediments.
  • Keep in a dark place or dark packaging.
